There are differing opinions on the count of actual sovereign countries in the world today. Several sources agree on a number of 196 countries. While we have been to many territories around the globe, we only count actual countries visited during our journeys.
Our travels have taken us to over 80 countries together on six continents. We visited most of these countries during our Trekking the Planet adventures; however we also discovered others with our children or on our own prior to our first around-the-world (RTW) journey.
